Fraunhofer-Institute
Research centre KODIS of Fraunhofer IAO in Heilbronn
The Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering IAO is building up a new research and innovation centre at the Bildungscampus of the Dieter Schwarz Foundation in Heilbronn. Focussing on cognitive service systems, KODIS will relate research questions on artificial intelligence (AI) to the direct practical application of customer-oriented services.
In close cooperation with Heilbronn University of Applied Sciences (HNN) and the Technical University of Munich (TUM), the Fraunhofer Institute will develop innovative business models for the digital age, geared to artificial intelligence and machine learning. Central to the research is the development of data-based solutions and business models for complex service systems, taking into account AI methods.
The Fraunhofer researchers combine industry-specific process expertise with application-oriented know-how for data generation and data analysis.
In this context, collaborations with businesses based in the Heilbronn-Franken region will contribute to promoting digitisation in medium-sized companies and provide new impetus.
The Dieter Schwarz Foundation supports the development of the new research location financially, while also providing office space and future laboratory space at the Bildungscampus in Heilbronn. The research and innovation centre of Fraunhofer IAO is accommodated next to the TUM in premises of the tower building.
